K8-22. Microwaves - Tubular Waveguide
To demonstrate transmission of microwaves in a tubular "waveguide."
Microwave generator, 4" galvanized steel tube, microwave receiver with projection meter on overhead projector.
The amount of microwave radiation transmitted through the tube can be compared with the amount which can be propagated through the same distance through the air by holding the waveguide between the transmitter and the receiver and then removing it. The shielding of the waveguide can be seen by holding the receiver adjacent to the waveguide with the waves propagating through the waveguide.
